It may be time to change your oil!
If you’ve had trouble remembering things lately,
maybe it’s time to "oil up" your brain
and heart arteries. One of the best brain
nutrients is an omega 3 oil.
New research indicates that neural connections
continue to grow throughout life if given the
right lubrication…and a dose of
“smart”
exercise.
In his book, The Perricone Prescription,
Dr Nicholas Perricone explains how it works.
"Brain function is intimately tied to our essential fatty acid intake. Essential fatty acids make up the phospholipid bilayer of the cell membrane which is critical in the proper functioning of the nerve cells of to our brains.”
It gets a little technical here but stay with me. Look at it as a “workout” for your brain.
Essential fatty acids, also called EFAs, are
called Essential because your body cannot get
along without them.
These fats, which are known as omega 3 oils,
have long unpronounceable names and are known by
the initials DHA, EPA and ALA.
When plaque builds up on arterial walls and then breaks loose, it forms a clot. If this clot restricts an artery in the brain, it causes a stroke and when it occurs in a heart artery it results in a heart attack. Research shows DHA helps dissolve clots before they can cause any damage.
Heart health and brain health go together
like apple pie and ice cream.
DHA and EPA are found mostly in fish oil and ALA
in nuts and flax seed. DHA provides one of the
greatest fish oil benefits to the heart and
brain.
If the oil in you body is laden with sludge-like
chemically modified vegetables oils, the
signals to and from your brain get through
slowly…or not at all.
Your brain is designed with fish oil in mind.
Fish oil provides the perfect medium to accelerate the
movement of information to and from your brain.
Now, UCLA scientists have confirmed that fish
oil can help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, and
they have identified the reasons why.
Greg Cole, professor of medicine and neurology at the David Geffen School of Medicine, and his team of researchers have discovered that the omega-3 fatty acid (DHA) found in fish oil increased the production of a protein which is known to destroy the “plaques” that form in the brains of Alzheimer’s victims.
Additional Fish Oil Benefits
- They help to lower LDL cholesterol, triglycerides and blood pressure, while at the same time increasing good HDL cholesterol.
HDL
cholesterol has been very underrated.
A
world wide study that was conducted on the risks
of heart attack came to the conclusion that the
greatest contributor to heart disease (after smoking)
is a low ratio of HDL cholesterol to LDL
cholesterol. The people who have the highest
HDLs also have the greatest longevity!
The evidence is overwhelming that omega-3 fatty acids or, more specifically, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA from fish oil improve memory, recall, reasoning and focus.
the main components of fish oils, are highly effective in preventing sudden cardiac death, death from heart disease, and certain arrhythmias.
The fish oil benefits of omega 3 oils are not alike
If you choose to get your DHA
from fish oil be sure that it is pharmaceutical grade fish oil that has been
molecularly distilled to guarantee freedom from
toxic chemicals, such as mercury and dioxin.
For years, the medical establishment touted salmon as the ultimate “heart healthy” food, citing its abundance of omega-3s. There’s just one problem: The salmon you buy at your local supermarket is “farm raised.”
That means the fish are fed a diet of fish flakes made from corn, cereal grains and other additives. This unnatural diet causes the salmon’s omega-3 levels to plummet. And that’s just one of the many biological transformations they go through.
The salmon
and other fish raised “in captivity” are so
changed by the experience; the fish farmers have
to inject them with an orange-colored dye to
make their flesh look like real salmon.
You may be surprised to find this out, but
eating store-bought farmed fish only gives you a
fraction of the fish oil benefits you would
expect to find.
It's a sad day when t what we think is good for us can actually be detrimental to our heart and brain. But read on...there is a better solution.
I'm
Gene Millen. In 1990 a skilled heart surgeon sawed
open my chest and stitched in bypasses to six of my
favorite arteries.
That got my
attention...and kindled a passion for helping others
avoid a heart attack or stroke. I've provided health
and wellness programs for hundreds of people during
the 11 years that my wife and I owned and operated
the Vital Life Center, an
award winning
health and wellness club for the over 50 crowd.
Currently, as
Fitness/Wellness Director of a residential
retirement community in the San Joaquin Valley of California,
my responsibility is to provide the information,
motivation and programming to keep
I personally reject the idea of consuming a dose of toxic waste materials that an environmental polluter dumps into the ocean.
But now a new discovery by Dr. Al Sears gives us a powerful plant based source of DHA that is far superior to fish oil benefits. It is called Sacha Inchi. Here's what Dr. Sears says about this omega 3 oil brain and heart nutrient:
"The oil I
discovered in the dense jungles of the Amazon
has reached American shores. And it boasts one
of the highest concentrations of heart-healthy
omega-3s in the world...
For centuries it nourished the ancient Incas of
Peru – turning them into one of the most
powerful civilizations on earth. Packing more
than 84% essential fatty acids (the "good" fats)
- its unique proteins, amino acids and nutrients
powered up their legendary warriors, keeping
their minds sharp and bodies practically disease
proof.
This oil – which comes from nuts, not fish – is so effective and nutrient dense, it’s the first real health breakthrough I’ve seen in the last decade."
Here's why we love Sachi Inchi oil
-
It digests easily...no fishy after taste
-
The mild nutty flavor is almost like almonds and is so light and delicious that you can literally drink it from the bottle
-
There are no worries about dangerous heavy metals and contaminants.
-
It’s one of the most powerful inflammation fighters ever discovered.
-
It’s highly concentrated omega-3s turn off excess inflammation like a switch.
-
It contains very high levels of DHA which is one of the key fish oil benefits.
